Christopher P. Parrington is a shareholder and chair of the litigation department at Skjold ▪ Barthel, P.A., and has been associated with the firm since its inception.
Representing businesses and business owners, Mr. Parrington is actively involved in the prosecution and defense of complex business and commercial matters, aggressively representing his clients and zealously advocating their positions in court.
Mr. Parrington's practice centers on complex matters involving FINRA arbitration and securities ligitation, insurance coverage disputes, business contracts, shareholder disputes, unfair competition, non-compete agreement enforcement, defamation, trade secret protection, trademark infringement, fraud and misrepresentation.
Mr. Parrington has experience representing franchisees involved in litigation with franchisors under Minnesota’s Franchise Act, including unique litigation in federal court between members of the petroleum industry asserting claims under the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act. He also has an extensive practice representing homeowners victimized by mortgage companies, lenders, appraisers and others involved in real estate and mortgage fraud schemes.
Mr. Parrington’s litigation focuses on an aggressive motion practice, requests for temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions and other injunctive relief. He has significant trial experience trying business and commercial cases to juries throughout Minnesota, and has argued numerous complex business and commercial matters before the appellate courts in Minnesota.
Throughout his practice, Mr. Parrington has been recognized by the legal community for his achievements and success as an attorney. In 2007, 2009 and 2010, Mr. Parrington was named to the "Rising Star” list by Minnesota Law & Politics, Twin Cities Business and Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, an award that recognizes select up-and-coming attorneys in the State of Minnesota. From 2007-2010, Mr. Parrington has also been recognized in “Who’s Who in Business Litigation” by Minnesota Law & Politics and Twin Cities Business magazines.
Mr. Parrington is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Following his undergraduate studies, Mr. Parrington attended law school at the University of St. Thomas as part of St. Thomas’ inaugural class. He was a founding member of the University of St. Thomas’ Law Journal, serving as an editor for two years. Following graduation, Mr. Parrington took a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Heidi S. Schellhas, Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
In January 2007, Mr. Parrington was appointed as a member of the DRIVE - Emerging Leaders Board for the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce. A member of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, Mr. Parrington is licensed to practice in Minnesota state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
