Christopher P. Parrington

Christopher P. Parrington is the chair of the litigation department at Skjold ▪ Barthel, P.A., and has been associated with Skjold ▪ Barthel, P.A., since its inception. Mr. Parrington has been practicing law in Minnesota since 2004. Mr. Parrington represents small and medium-sized businesses and business owners in complex business and commercial litigation. Mr. Parrington also represents borrowers, homeowners, investors and other individuals with lending, mortgage and securities fraud claims. Mr. Parrington is actively involved in the prosecution and defense of business and commercial matters, aggressively representing his clients and zealously advocating their positions in court.

Mr. Parrington handles complex matters involving business contracts, shareholder disputes, unfair competition, non-compete agreement enforcement, defamation, trade secret protection, trademark infringement, fraud and misrepresentation. Mr. Parrington has an extensive practice representing homeowners and investors victimized by investment companies, mortgage companies, lenders, appraisers and others involved in real estate, mortgage and securities fraud schemes. Mr. Parrington also has experience representing franchisees involved in litigation with franchisors under Minnesota’s Franchise Act, including unique litigation in federal court between members of the petroleum industry asserting claims under the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act.

Mr. Parrington’s litigation focuses on an aggressive motion practice, requests for temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions and other injunctive relief. Mr. Parrington also has significant trial experience trying business and commercial cases to juries throughout Minnesota. Finally, Mr. Parrington has argued numerous complex business and commercial matters before the appellate courts in Minnesota.

Throughout his practice, Mr. Parrington has been recognized by the legal community for his achievements and success as an attorney. In 2007, Mr. Parrington was named a “Rising Star” by Minnesota Law & Politics, Twin Cities Business and Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, an award that recognizes select up-and-coming attorneys in the State of Minnesota. Mr. Parrington has also been recognized by Minnesota Law & Politics and Twin Cities Business magazines as a member of the 2007 and 2008 “Who’s Who in Business Litigation” group.

Mr. Parrington is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Following his undergraduate studies, Mr. Parrington attended law school at the University of St. Thomas as part of St. Thomas’ inaugural class. He was a founding member of the University of St. Thomas’ Law Journal, serving as an editor for two years. Following graduation, Mr. Parrington took a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Heidi S. Schellhas, Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. In January 2007, Mr. Parrington was appointed as a member of the DRIVE - Emerging Leaders Board for the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Parrington is licensed to practice in Minnesota state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
